Operational Authorisations and LUC
Entrust your authorisation
process to experts with
proven experience.
If your drone activity goes beyond the Open category, safe and lawful operations require the
appropriate authorisations and thorough professional preparation. CloudIA’s experts guide
you through the authorisation process from the first consultation to regulatory approval and,
where needed, continue to support you during subsequent operations.
Why do clients entrust us with their authorisation process?
Approximately 40% - outstanding domestic experience
Our experts have contributed to the preparation of nearly 40% of operational authorisations issued in Hungary.
Proven expertise in the most complex operations
We have extensive references in authorising specialised and highly complex drone operations – from monitoring and surveying to crop spraying, lifting operations and bespoke missions.
3 LUCs - contribution to authorising all LUCs issued in Hungary
The Light UAS Operator Certificate (LUC) represents one of the highest levels of operating privileges. Our experts have contributed to the authorisation process for all three LUCs obtained in Hungary.
Success guarantee - you pay for the outcome
Our authorisation service fee is payable only if the process is successful. For our clients, the result of the service is not merely prepared documentation, but a successfully obtained authorisation.
Single-point administration
We do more than help obtain the operational authorisation. Where needed, we also address temporary airspace, required competencies and other related requirements, allowing you to entrust all tasks needed to deliver the operation to one expert team.
Comprehensive expertise in one place
Our regulatory, legal, technical and practical experience means you can rely on our experts from the first consultation, through obtaining the authorisation and even during subsequent operations.

Experience in authorising a wide range of drone operations
From straightforward tasks to highly complex operations, we have gained hands-on experience in numerous authorisation processes.
We have contributed to nearly 40% of operational authorisations issued in Hungary.
Operational authorisation is about much more than preparing documents. It is a complex professional process requiring deep regulatory knowledge, risk-analysis experience and a thorough understanding of regulatory expectations.
CloudIA’s experts have completed the full professional preparation for nearly 40% of domestic operational authorisations issued to date, including the preparation of required documentation and risk assessments, as well as the establishment of organisational processes related to authorisation. Our references include the authorisation of the most complex operations.
In addition, our experts have developed the complete documentation and related organisational development required to obtain all Light UAS Operator Certificates (LUCs) issued in Hungary. This experience enables us to provide clients with comprehensive, well-founded and results-oriented support.
When is an operational
authorisation required?
An operational authorisation may be required if the planned drone activity cannot be carried
out under the rules of the Open category.
Our experts support the authorisation of, among others:
Monitoring and surveying tasks
Complex industrial, infrastructure and environmental operations.
Lifting operations
Professional preparation and authorisation of operations involving lifting or transport.
Plant-protection and spraying operations
End-to-end support for authorisation processes that meet specialised requirements.
Bespoke and high-risk operations
Any activity requiring specialised operational planning and regulatory approval.
What does our service include?
We provide comprehensive support throughout the full authorisation process.
Professional assessment of the planned operation
Preparation of required documentation
Preparation of risk assessments and related documents
Preparation of the operations manual - depending on the complexity of the operation, this may involve 100 to 200 pages of documentation that meets regulatory expectations
Support with regulatory consultations
Preparation required to conduct the operation
Ongoing professional support after authorisation has been granted
General operational authorisation
Not every company wants to conduct a separate authorisation process for each operation.
Our experts also support clients in obtaining a general operational authorisation. Subject to the relevant conditions being met, this may allow the drone operations defined in the authorisation to be conducted throughout Hungary without time restrictions.
This can significantly simplify regular drone operations and provide a more predictable operating framework for the organisation.
In authorisation, experience creates a real competitive advantage.
There is no room for guesswork in operational authorisation. Our experts have gained their experience through hundreds of successfully delivered projects.

Frequently asked questions
When is an operational authorisation required?
An operational authorisation may be required if the planned operation cannot be carried out under the rules of the Open category. This may apply, for example, if you intend to fly above 120 metres above ground level, conduct a beyond-visual-line-of-sight operation, operate over assemblies of people, fly closer than 5 metres to uninvolved persons, drop material from the drone, or carry out the operation using an aircraft weighing more than 25 kg.
Our experts can help determine which category your activity falls into.
How long does the authorisation process take?
Depending on the complexity of the case and the documentation required, the duration of the authorisation process may vary. Based on the client’s requirements, we typically prepare the documentation needed for the authority’s review within one week. By law, the authority has 90 days to assess incoming applications on their merits; in practice, however, this is typically completed within 30 days.
What is a general operational authorisation?
This is an authorisation that allows the repeated execution of the operations specified in the authorisation anywhere in Hungary, without having to initiate a new authorisation procedure each time. The UAS operator must comply with the requirements set out in the operations manual and in the authorisation issued by the authority.
What does the success guarantee mean?
Where a project is feasible and the client meets the necessary conditions, we offer a success guarantee for our professional work. Our colleagues will explain the details during the consultation.
How long is an issued operational authorisation valid?
The majority of operational authorisations we prepare are general operational authorisations and are typically valid until revoked. In other words, they remain valid as long as the UAS operator can carry out the operations in compliance with the rules set out in the operations manual and the operational authorisation.
Can an already issued operational authorisation be amended?
Yes, this is possible. Depending on whether the change is administrative – for example, adding a new UAS type in the same risk category – or significant, such as adding a new type of operation, the administrative fee may need to be paid again to the authority.
Is the operational authorisation also valid abroad?
If you wish to conduct an operation abroad under an operational authorisation issued by the Hungarian authority, the authorisation must be recognised by the competent authority in the destination country. Our experts can assist with this process as well.
